The Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM) is excited to share that Malaysia has the chance to nominate undergraduate students specializing in Physics, Engineering, Computing Science, and/or Mathematics (at least in their third year), as well as Master’s Degree students for the CERN Summer Student Programme (CSSP) 2024.
 
This transformative program, spanning 8 to 13 weeks between June and August 2024, invites participants to actively engage in the day-to-day operations of research teams conducting experiments at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland.
 
While the scientific value of the program is unquestionable, selected students can anticipate more than just ground-breaking research. The CSSP promises an immersive experience in a diverse, multidisciplinary environment, offering a unique opportunity for personal enrichment.
 
This isn’t just an ordinary summer program; it’s a singular chance for participants to establish invaluable connections with peers and scientists from across the globe. Since 2012, the coveted nomination for the CSSP has been an annual affair, welcoming candidates from all corners of public and private higher learning institutions nationwide.
 
Eligibility Conditions
  • Applicants must be an undergraduate (Bachelor or Masters) in either Physics, Engineering, Computing Science and/or Mathematics and are at least 6 semesters of full-time studies at university level.
 
  • Applicants remain registered as student during your stay at CERN. If you expect to graduate during European summer 2024 (as of May), you are also eligible to apply.
 
  • Applicants must not be an employee at CERN (such as Trainee, Technical Student, User, etc).
 
  • Applicants need to be fluent in English, both speaking and writing. Knowledge of French would be an advantage.

Funding
The participation costs (airfare, hostel accommodation, and insurance coverage) for successful applicants will be funded by their respective home institutions.
