Programme Aims:

The Master of Engineering (Mechanical) programme aims to cater for:

1. The candidates from the industry who are keen in continuous learning and advanced their knowledge in the field of mechanical
engineering to deal with complex engineering problems.
2. Fresh graduates who wish to obtain an in-depth knowledge and capabilities in the field of mechanical engineering, thereby having
better career prospects in that field.

Programme Educational Objectives (PEO):

The objectives of the Master of Engineering (Mechanical) programme are to produce:

PEO 1 – The graduates will be engaged in high technology research and development for the advancement of knowledge and
solving problems.
PEO 2 – The graduates will utilize state-of-art knowledge and complex problem solving capabilities in their advanced careers.
PEO 3 – The graduates will be assuming technical, managerial and ethical leadership roles in industries that require their
specialized knowledge in mechanical engineering, particularly with good commanding oral and written skills.
PEO 4 – The graduates will be involved in the affairs of professional institutions and keep abreast of the nation’s needs and
developments, and provide services to the engineering communities and the nation.

Programme Learning Outcome (PLO):

PLO 1 – Demonstrate continuing and advanced knowledge in Mechanical Engineering and have the capabilities to further
develop or use these in new situations or multidisciplinary contexts.
PLO 2 – Analyse and evaluate problems in the Mechanical Engineering critically particularly in situations with limited information
and to provide solutions through the application of appropriate tools and techniques.
PLO 3 – Appraise available information and research evidence and apply it in the engineering context.
PLO 4 – Plan and perform research undertakings professionally, ethically and responsibly with sustainable practice.
PLO 5 – Report technical findings in both written and oral forms in order to contribute to the enrichment of knowledge in the
industry.
PLO 6 – Recognise the needs for continuing professional development and pursuing the advanced technical knowledge required
for high technology industry.
