The thesis project focuses on revitalising the street, restoring its structure, reactivating trades activity in the taiping wet market and its market square. Moreover, the market remains as a community gathering space for the locals to perform daily activity. The proposal includes the services to facilitate the needs of the market vendors and it encourages the street to be more pedestranize than before to maximise connectivity to the surrounding neighbourhood. The permeability of the urban context allows one to walk around during post market hours, strolling through the taiping market square with richness of cultural activities and robustness of cultural value of taiping. In short, this thesis attempted to improve the built environment of taiping market square from a macro scale to a micro scale in terms of urban design, landscape design and last but not least the architecture.
