Human impact on Coral reefs is significant. 60% of Coral Reefs in the world are seriously damaged by human activities such as coral bleaching, destructive fishing, coral mining, pollution and sedimentation. The Hub Passenger Ferry Terminal was designed to simultaneously generate a new typology of Passenger Ferry Terminal and act as social gathering space, in the same time it is also Integrated with Coral Cultivation Centre. This is to create a self-awareness on the importance of Coral Reefs to us and its huge impact on our livelihood. The main concept of the building design; shape and form derived from a Mediation between the Land and the Sea. The subtle shifts in the building’s geometry was made to nestle The Hub within the context, present human scale and to create a distinct identity of Tioman Island.
