The Architecture theme is founded on the idea of a park with gentle rolling land formation over the existing landscape, which aims to bring hope to stray dog and supports the overall vision for a healthy and inspiring environment for sheltered dogs. The “porosity of the slope” while interfacing with the surroundings, introduces an experience of light and nature for the users of the building and at the same time inviting the people passing by to visit the dog shelter and learn about dogs. The centre also supports re-purposing of stray dog and improving lifestyle of dogs. The building is organized in a series of courtyards, serving as exterior areas for the dogs. The courtyards scheme makes it possible to avoid the “jail-like” fencing which is often associated with dog shelters. This experience of wide-open space, will make dogs feel at ease in a setting that they naturally feel familiar.
