Marketplaces encountered recondition regularly suffered loss of essence resulting in “placeless-ness”. Pudu wet market is one of the victims. Failure in maintenance created multitudinous forsaken spaces. Dirty, unattractive image of the wet market in today’s society resulted in loss of interest. This thesis addresses paradigm shift and “placeless-ness”, exploring an alternative architectural typology that is relevant to the needs of today’s world while defining solutions to technicality issues that undermine its operation. The resulting prototype marks the possibility to re-generate the disintegrating market by reinstating primitive forestry elements of Pudu to the concrete jungle. Designed with urban farming facilities, enhances sustainability while demonstrating an experimental process in tackling paradigm shift.
