It is a dynamic place to study by providing state-of-the-art facilities and pursuing a vigorous program of teaching, scholarship and research. Over the years, our department has offered excellent training and preparation for the 21st-century workplace. Three undergraduate and three postgraduate research degrees, which include Bachelor of Sciences (Hons) Actuarial Science, Bachelor of Sciences (Hons) Applied Mathematics with Computing, Bachelor of Science (Hons) Financial Mathematics, Master in Mathematics (coursework), Master of Mathematical Science and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). The courses offered are approved for delivery by the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education, and will be accredited as appropriate by Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA). Graduates are employed all over the country, in industries ranging from finance to survey analysis to biomedical research, and has become pervasive in culture, economy, law, government, and science, dramatically changing the way people view the world.

Under the Department of Mathematical and Actuarial Sciences, there is a center known as the Centre of Mathematical sciences which consists of a few sub-research groups build up from members form the department together with a few researchers from other Universities and staff from UTAR Kampar. Regular seminars are conducted in order to encourage discussion within research groups for enhancement of research ideas. Besides that, the centre also provides some funding for students to attend conferences or seminars. Recently the center had successfully organized one international conference and a few workshops. Some of our annual activities include National Mathematics Competition, Actuary Today and National Mathematics Modeling Competition. The department is committed to achieving the highest standards of teaching and research. Each year, we attract outstandingly talented students to study on our courses, and we are naturally very proud when, year after year, our students declare themselves highly satisfied with the quality of their courses.
